Stool Quest
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 June 2026
Stool Quest is a match-3 game about restoring an Asante village, made for ages 13 and up. We keep
data collection to the minimum needed to let you play, to save your progress, and — with your
consent — to understand how the game is used so we can improve it. We do not sell your data, and
during the beta we do not show ads or use third-party advertising trackers. This page explains
what we collect, why, and your choices.
Play without an account
You can play immediately, with no sign-up. When you first open the game we create an anonymous
ID so your progress can be saved. Your progress, currency, and settings are stored on your
device and synced to our cloud under that anonymous ID. No email or personal details are needed
to play.
What we collect
- An anonymous account ID — automatically generated so your save belongs to you.
- Game progress & save data — levels completed, in-game currency, restoration
progress, and preferences (such as sound settings).
- Your email address — only if you choose "Save your progress." Linking an email
lets you recover your progress on a new device or after clearing your browser. It is the only
personal information we collect, and only when you opt in.
- Anonymous usage analytics — only with your consent. If you allow it, we record
anonymous gameplay events (for example, which levels you reach and where puzzles get tricky) under
a randomly generated analytics ID, to understand how the game is used and improve it. This is tied
to a random ID stored in your browser, never to your name, and is never collected from players
under 13. See "Analytics & your consent" below.
How we use it
- To save and restore your game progress across sessions and devices.
- To send you a 6-digit sign-in code by email when you link or recover an account.
- With your consent, to measure how the game is used (anonymously) so we can improve it.
- To keep the game working.
Who processes your data
We use trusted service providers that process data on our behalf; we do not sell your data.
- Supabase — hosts our database and authentication, storing your anonymous ID,
saved progress, and (if provided) your email. Data is encrypted in transit and each account can
only access its own records.
- Resend — sends the one-time 6-digit sign-in code to your email address when
you link or recover an account.
- PostHog — our product-analytics provider. When you consent to analytics, it
processes anonymous gameplay events under a random analytics ID to give us aggregate usage
insights. It does not receive your name or email. See
PostHog's privacy policy.
Analytics & your consent
Analytics is off by default where the law requires opt-in consent (such as the EU,
UK and California) and whenever your browser sends a "Do Not Track" / Global Privacy Control signal,
which we honour. Elsewhere it is on by an opt-out basis. Either way you can turn it on or off at any
time under Settings → Preferences → Product analytics, and we never collect analytics
from players who tell us they are under 13. When enabled, our analytics provider stores a random ID in
your browser's local storage and a cookie to recognise return visits; this carries no personal details.
Payments
In-app purchases are turned off during the beta, so we do not collect any payment information.
When purchases become available, they will be handled by the app store (Apple or Google), and we
never receive your card details.
Your choices
- Stay anonymous — simply don't link an email; you can still play and save on
this device.
- Control analytics — turn anonymous analytics on or off any time under
Settings → Preferences → Product analytics. We also honour browser "Do Not Track" signals.
- Reset your progress — use "Reset progress" on the Account screen to wipe your
save on this device and in the cloud.
- Delete your account — use "Delete account & data" on the Account screen to
permanently erase your account, saved data and any linked email, right from inside the game. You
can also email us (below) and we will do it for you.
Children
Stool Quest is made for ages 13 and up. When you first open the game we ask for your date of birth
in a neutral age check. If you tell us you are under 13, we put you in a privacy-safe mode: play
stays anonymous and we do not collect analytics or any personal information from you. We do not
knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided
us an email, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
We may update this policy as the game evolves. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above when we do.
